Spicer Meadow Reservoir Camping

The Spicer Meadow Reservoir area is usually open for camping beginning in early June and running through mid-October, depending on weather. Currently there are campgrounds at the Stanislaus River and Spicer Reservoir. Plans for campgrounds at nearby Union and Utica reservoirs were announced in a 2007 Stanislaus National Forest Recreation Facility Analysis. The proposal called for 75 walk-in tent campsites at Utica and 100 similar sites at Union. Until the campgrounds are built at Union and Utica, campers settle for dispersed camping along the reservoirs' shores.

Stanislaus River Campground is on the bank of the North Fork of the Stanislaus River at an elevation of 6,200 feet. A nearby sandy beach area is located at the southern end of the campground.
